RENEWAIRE INTRODUCES LIGHTWEIGHT EPP FOAM CABINET ERV SERIES

WAUNAKEE, WI –RenewAire®, a Waunakee, WI-based manufacturer of HVAC and indoor air quality (IAQ) products, introduced the Aeri™ Series, North America’s first energy recovery ventilator (ERV) constructed of a lightweight EPP foam enclosure that doubles as a cabinet structure and insulation. The Aeri Series’ labor-reducing lightweight, smart self-balancing constant airflow set points, and proprietary Snap-N-Go™ ductwork connectors make it one of the industry’s easiest and quickest ERVs to install.

The Aeri Series’ strong, durable expanded polypropylene (EPP) foam enclosure is in the process of being tested to meet UL1812—“Standard for Safety Ducted Heat Recovery Ventilators” and compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) building codes. Additionally, Aeri is in the process of being certified by the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI). The closed-cell charcoal gray foam is highly resistant to compression, fire, chemicals, and impacts, while also exhibiting excellent thermal insulating characteristics and low moisture absorption.

The Aeri Series’ debut model, the Aeri MT (ET-255MF-P340-XCO), offers top ports and a midrange airflow range of 40 to 255 CFM targeting residential applications. The Aeri Series name is derived from the Latin “aerius” meaning “of the air” and is pronounced like the word “airy.” Thus, it weighs just 25 lbs, making it one of the HVAC industry’s lightest static plate enthalpy core ERVs per CFM.

Besides its lightweight design, the Aeri Series’ other quick installation features include top port duct inlets/outlets for when surrounding wall space is too cramped for straight, unrestricted airflow out of traditional side inlets/outlets. The Series also includes the debut of RenewAire’s proprietary Snap-N-Go blue connection duct collars that safely enable duct screwing/sealing at ground level versus on ladders. After unit mounting, Snap-N-Go outfitted ducts quickly snap and seal into the unit without any additional fastening.

Aeri’s smart self-balancing constant airflow feature also decreases installation time with five quick set points of 40, 75, 110, 145, and 175 CFM. Turn the dial to one of these airflows and the sophisticated, electronically commutated (EC) motorized impellers automatically adjust in real-time to maintain the selected airflow even as system conditions change. This means that the Aeri series at these five airflows will continually operate at the set airflow regardless of filter build-up, duct pressure fluctuations with air handler cycling, as well as with seasonal air density changes to provide optimum performance year-round.

For operation outside of the five constant airflow, the unit also has Dial-A-Flow controls which expedite the installing contractor’s balancing calibrations versus dealing with balancing dampers. These controls provide the user access to the full operating range up to 255 CFM.

Aeri models have two independent speeds for the supply and exhaust airflows. These independent speeds can be set to either constant airflow or the Dial-A-Flow control system. Take advantage of these two speeds to improve IAQ with continuous ventilation with speed one and then use speed two for a temporary boost mode for an on-demand increased ventilation activated by a push button or CO2 sensor accessory.

The Aeri Series can operate as a stand-alone outdoor air unit or work in conjunction with another HVAC system. Additionally, it can also serve as a bathroom exhaust system in residential and multi-family applications.

The debut model, which boasts similar performance statistics of RenewAire’s Brilliance Award-winning EV Premium M model, offers features such as:

  • top port model, 40-255 CFM
  • five constant airflow set points
  • the Dial-A-Flow control for balancing outdoor/indoor air ratios without dampers
  • EC motorized impellers with efficient backward-curved impellers
  • standard MERV 8 filters with the option to upgrade the outside airstream to MERV 13 (for removing 5 contaminants)
  • standard wall mounting kit includes the unit’s backside cleat that easily hooks into a preinstalled wall mount within seconds
  • included a vertical hanging bracket kit for a ceiling hanging installation with the unit in a vertical orientation
  • Home Ventilation Institute (HVI) performance certification and UL 1812 safety listing is pending
  • small footprint of 32-5/8 (W) x 26-1/2 (H) x 13-3/8-inches (D)
  • due to the lightweight and durable EPP cabinet, the unit weighs only 25 lbs.
  • 10-year core warranty and a 5-year unit warranty
