What is Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM)?
Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) reduces lead times across all functions at RenewAire. For this reason, we use cross-functional teams and flexible work cells to build our ERVs. This approach allows us to adapt quickly to changes in production.
How is Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) implemented on the production floor?
We implemented Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) on our production floor by creating dedicated assembly cells. In these cells, a team takes ownership of the entire build process for an ERV. Because we keep the assembly in one spot, we eliminate common manufacturing delays. This approach empowers our teams to become experts and ensures a high-quality product
What is an energy recovery ventilator (ERV)?
An energy recovery ventilator, or ERV, is a system that employs energy recovery technology, such as a static-plate core or rotating wheel. This process uses balanced airflows and recovers otherwise-expended total energy comprised of heat (sensible energy) and humidity (latent energy).
In summer, warm and humid outside air is pre-cooled and dehumidified via the total energy from the outgoing cool interior air. In winter, cold and dry outside air is preheated and humidified via the total energy from the outgoing warm interior air. Subsequently, less energy is needed for conditioning and ventilation, which means HVAC equipment can be downsized.
