RenewAire’s New Evergreen™ Series Combines Energy Recovery Technology with single-point exhaust

The Evergreen™ is a three-duct energy recovery ventilator (ERV). It uses single-point exhaust to condition outdoor air for optimum IAQ and energy efficiency.

RenewAire, a leader in HVAC innovation and indoor air quality (IAQ), has introduced the Evergreen™ series. These residential energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) feature single-point exhaust with energy recovery capabilities. Evergreen SH is a three-duct ERV with a built-in return grille, and ducted supply, exhaust, and outside airstreams. Designed for convenient localized extraction, this ERV is ideal for applications like bathrooms, laundry rooms, and smaller-sized residential spaces (i.e., apartments, condominiums).

Introducing the Evergreen SH: Advanced IAQ for Small Spaces

The Evergreen Series’ first entry is the Evergreen SH (model number EG-110SB-H020-XE0). This compact, ceiling-mounted ERV provides an airflow range of 25–130 CFM. Within a single compact housing, the unit exhausts humid, odorous air while supplying fresh tempered outdoor air directly to a nearby room or HVAC duct.

RenewAire’s 5th generation energy recovery core tempers this incoming fresh air. The core efficiently recovers energy from the exhaust air and transfers it to the supply airstream. This process prevents the two airstreams from mixing or making direct contact.

Smart Airflow Selection and Automated Self-Balancing

This ERV operates as a single-speed device. It runs at any of the three preprogrammed quick-select minimum airflows, or anywhere within the full range using the variable airflow setpoint.

The preprogrammed airflow setpoint uses proprietary software to adjust the electronically commutated (EC) motorized impellers. This software automatically self-balances the system. It maintains a minimum exhaust airflow of 30, 40, or 50 CFM from 0.2 to 0.4 in. w.g. ESP.

Additionally, a variable constant-speed range (25–130 CFM) accommodates various applications. Flexible control methods, including countdown timers and manual switches, support both continuous and intermittent use. Quick airflow selection and automated self-balancing eliminate labor-intensive onsite setups.

Compact, Low-Profile Design for Easy Installation

The Evergreen Series features a small footprint of 20″ (L) x 17″ (W) x 11-3/4″ (D). Five-inch oval exhaust and supply connections allow the low-profile unit to fit inside most ceiling joists or cavities. Integrated steel mounting flanges ensure an easy installation.

Evergreen’s unique three-duct design uses a grille instead of a traditional exhaust connection. This setup captures energy that typically escapes the dwelling. Maintenance, like other RenewAire ERVs, is minimal. Users only need to change the return air and outdoor air filters, which are easily accessible once you remove the grille.

Key Features of the Evergreen Series ERV

  • Efficient backward curved EC motorized impellers,

  • MERV 7 filters (standard). Outside air filter slot can accommodate a MERV 13 filter (accessory),

  • Grille designed to cover unit-to-drywall voids,

  • Flexible control with use of any 120V rated accessory (light switch, fan timer, etc.),

  • All RenewAire ERVs and DOAS products have an industry-leading 10-year structural and performance warranty for their static-plate core.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

RenewAire offers specialized solutions for different home layouts. Our popular and award-winning EV Premium Series serves as an excellent choice for whole-house airflow using traditional ducted setups.

The Evergreen™ Series expands your options by targeting localized spaces like bathrooms and laundry rooms. It features a built-in return grille and a three-duct design to fit tight ceiling cavities. This allows you to bring balanced energy recovery ventilation to specific zones that traditionally rely on simple exhaust fans. Both series deliver superior indoor air quality based on your specific installation needs.

RenewAire products enhance indoor air quality by introducing continuous, balanced ventilation. This process effectively dilutes indoor pollutants like moisture, odors, and VOCs. A conventional exhaust fan operates as a negative-pressure system. It simply pulls stale air out of a room. This action forces unconditioned, unfiltered outdoor air to leak into the home through cracks and gaps in the building envelope.

In contrast, RenewAire ERVs provide energy-efficient, balanced ventilation. They simultaneously exhaust stale indoor air and supply fresh outdoor air in equal amounts.

An ERV differs from a standard fan because it recovers heating or cooling energy from the outgoing airstream. The system then transfers that energy to the incoming fresh air. This mechanism delivers the clean air benefits of high ventilation rates without massive energy penalties or comfort issues. Additionally, an optional MERV 13 filter cleans incoming fresh air to trap fine allergens and dust before it enters the living space.

The compact design makes the Evergreen™ Series an ideal choice for apartments and condominiums. Its localized, single-point exhaust strategy targets high-moisture zones like bathrooms or laundry rooms perfectly. The system manages airflow efficiently within tight footprints. This provides multi-family developers with a reliable, space-saving balanced ventilation solution.

The Evergreen™ Series, like other RenewAire ERVs, requires minimal maintenance to sustain peak performance. Users only need to replace the return air and outdoor air filters periodically. Removing the elegant outer grille provides immediate access to both filters. This straightforward design eliminates the need to dismantle ductwork or drop the entire unit for routine filter changes.
