New EV Premium+ Series complies with 2025 CEC Title 24, Part 6 and IECC-2024. For residential ERVs requiring high outdoor air volume and energy efficiency, the new control+ platform provides the most IAQ features.
RenewAire®, a Waunakee, WI-based manufacturer of HVAC and indoor air quality (IAQ) products, has developed a proprietary control platform for its popular and award-winning residential product line, EV Premium Series.
Designated as EV Premium+ models, the EV Premium+ S, SH, M, and MH models will have a combined CFM range of 30–230. Six additional models within the EV Premium+ and SL+ product lines will be added in 2026, and they will expand the airflow range to 390 CFM. The control platform’s smart logic and diagnostic capabilities ensure that an EV Premium+ unit functions exactly as originally set up, years after install. For example, the system will adjust fans automatically to maintain constant volume airflow. And, if the system is unable to hold airflows at its setpoints it will indicate a corresponding fault, reducing costly overall service time.
Through an optional Touchscreen Control+ (TC1+) wall-mounted 4-inch (480 x 480-pixels) color touchscreen controller accessory, single- and multi-family home occupants can easily adjust ventilation modes based on internal/external air quality needs as well as their personal preferences. Installing this controller in the living space not only allows for additional on-demand ventilation options but is required for compliance with 2025 California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Title 24, Part 6 ERV Fault Indicator Display (FID) requirements.
Benefits with RenewAire’s EV Premium+ ERVs
On-Demand IAQ Control: Boost and Standby Modes for Adverse Air Conditions (e.g., Wildfire Smoke)
Occupants can use the touchscreen to activate an on-demand boost-mode timer for a range of timed options at the high speed setpoint during substandard IAQ events. When outside air conditions deteriorate, for example, with high levels of 2.5 PM from wildfires, the homeowner can temporarily activate standby mode by shutting down both supply and exhaust ventilation. While in standby mode, when ventilation is activated by any control (e.g. countdown timer in the bathroom), only the exhaust fan will be activated. Once outside conditions become favorable, the homeowner can disengage standby mode and revert back to standard operation.
Maximize Project Savings: One Touchscreen Control+ for Multiple Units
A unique and cost-saving feature of the EV Premium+ Series’ control platform is that if the Touchscreen Control+ accessory isn’t required by local standards or needed by the occupants, the ERV can operate without it, as the accessory would only be required during the initial ERV setup. In multifamily or residential developments, contractors may opt to use one TC1+ controller to set up every EV Premium+ ERV in the building/neighborhood—saving on overall project costs.
Simplified Startup and IECC 2024 Commissioning Exemption
The Touchscreen Control+ accessory facilitates quicker ERV installation via a step-by-step guide. The onscreen guide will prompt the selection of constant volume setpoints in increments of 5 CFM independently for the low and high speed airflows. Setup includes the ability to select continuous or intermittent ventilation and operating runtime. It also accommodates mirrored installations. The EV Premium+ Series’ with the TC1+ controller also exempts it from costly certified third-party start-up commissioning mandated by the International Energy Conservation Code’s (IECC) 2024 edition. The control platform qualifies as an “integrated diagnostic tool used for airflow measurement and user interface that communicates the installed airflow rate,” according to IECC requirements.
Other EV Premium+ Series and control platform features include:
Technical Specifications and Certifications for Unmatched Performance
- Same energy recovery performance specifications, configurations, and sizes as RenewAire’s current EV Premium Series models.
- Control platform eliminates the need for manometer readings, pressure differential measurements across the core, manually dialing in CFM, and other labor-intensive parameter calibrations.
- Meets both residential and commercial code requirements with ETL-listing, HVI-certification, and UL 1812 certification.
Time-Saving Installation and Wiring Innovations
- A newly designed quick-connect terminal block expedites wiring with improvements such as a built-in air handler/furnace interlock for forced air ducting. The 16-terminal block has space for wiring and powering the two motorized dampers in addition to timers and other accessories to activate both low and high speeds. LED indicators for on/off, faults, filter replacement alerts, and other functions.
- The 24V hardwired Touchscreen Control+ (TC1+) uses Modbus for communication and is a reusable tool, as contractors can use just one touchscreen controller to set up multiple ERVs.
- TC1+ is equipped with a built-in setup/installation guide for contractors, along with an operations manual for contractors and end users.
- TC1+ displays: current ventilation mode, both supply and exhaust airflows in CFM, current ERV power usage in watts, filter replacement alerts, and faults within the system (including low airflow, sensor error, etc.)
- Selectable modes with the TC1+ include a standby status (exhaust only on demand during outdoor pollution events, such as wildfires) in addition to supply/exhaust; supply only; exhaust only; and off.
- If using the factory setpoints, runtimes, and ducting orientations, then the Touchscreen Control+ accessory isn’t necessary during setup. Factory default conditions SA/RA are as follows: S/SH low at 75 CFM and high at 120 CFM, M/MH low at 125 CFM and high at 200 CFM
Unrivaled Efficiency and Code Compliance
- Backward curved impellers on the EC motors for higher efficiencies. The EV Premium+ S/SH and M/MH, with airflow efficiencies of up to 10 CFM/watt at 101 CFM (0.2″ ESP), these ERVs far surpass the 2025 CEC Title 24, Part 6 ERV efficiency requirements (starting Jan. 1, 2026).
- Hard-wired or plug-in cord options.
- Complies with the IECC 2024 ventilation mandates for latent recovery/moisture transfer (LRMT), sensible recovery efficiency (SRE) and power consumption.
Industry-Leading RenewAire Warranty
- All RenewAire ERVs have an industry-leading 10-year structural and performance warranty for their static-plate core. In addition to the core warranty, all residential products have a five-year warranty.
